THIS WEEK'S FOCUS: Move
1. Create Your Own “Mini Meetings on the Move”
Instead of defaulting to Zoom or a desk chat, suggest quick walking meetings with colleagues (even if it's just around the building or the block). Bonus: Walking side by side often leads to more relaxed, open conversations—great for brainstorming and problem-solving.
2. Gamify Your Movement—Even Solo
You don’t need an official company-wide Step Challenge to get moving. Set personal step goals and name your own “team” (yes, even if it’s just you—call yourself “The Sole Survivor” or “Step Sister”). Reward yourself with something fun when you hit your goal, like an extra-long lunch break or skipping your inbox for 30 minutes.
3. Un-conference Yourself
Even if you’re attending a traditional virtual meeting or webinar, take a cue from the un-conference format. Pace while listening, switch locations between sessions, or take stretch breaks every 30–45 minutes. You’ll stay more alert and come back to your tasks with more energy and fresh thinking.
Incorporating movement into the workplace goes beyond physical health—it’s a catalyst for holistic well-being, creativity, and human connection. While some companies are leading the way with innovative approaches, you don’t need corporate buy-in to start making a change. By taking simple, intentional steps each day, you can boost your energy, focus, and overall success—proving that small movements can lead to big results.
